SkyFields

With this series, I present interactions between colors using my own de-constructed photographs. Manipulating my photographs is both calming and stimulating. It gives me a sense of control - when my life feels slightly otherwise, and, it inspires a curious and playful spirit through experimentation. The title of the series comes from the original subject of all of the photographs - the sky and in most cases, the horizon. The title also speaks to the Color Field movement in painting from the 1960s, a source of great inspiration for me. For my viewers, I want to present the traditional landscape photograph in a fresh way. On a deeper level, I hope to bring about a heightened sensitivity to color as an artistic pathway to a higher state of humanity. If greater sensitivity to colors can be achieved then maybe greater sensitivity to others can be as well.
